Abstract
Introducing the Comparative Study of Electoral Systems (CSES) project: Making Electoral Research Global and Comparative
This talk provides an overview of the Comparative Study of Electoral Systems (CSES) project and showcases how the CSES makes electoral research global and comparative. The presentation introduces audiences to the CSES suite of products and the CSES Secretariat, the administrative and data hub of the project, which GESIS co-hosts. The talk explores how the CSES questionnaire is designed and implemented in over 40-polities and highlights the wide offering of district and macro level data that CSES boasts. The presentation also discusses harmonization and data quality controls the CSES adopts, and importantly, highlights the research opportunities and possibilities available to users of CSES, with some focus devoted to users especially interested in German data.
