Please find below a job posting for a Research Associate with the CSES Secretariat at GESIS in Germany. Applications are due by May 23, 2017.



PhD/Research Associate (f/m) with the Comparative Study of Electoral Systems (CSES) project

(Salary group is TV-L 13, 75% of full time, initially for four years).

In close interaction with an international team at multiple sites, the successful candidate will spend 25% of their time pursuing a PhD using the CSES data, either in a comparative Political Science topic or in a methodological, data quality-related topic. The remaining work time is taken up as a member of the CSES Secretariat (http://www.cses.org). It involves processing survey data from numerous countries to produce data sets ready for secondary analysis. Using quality protocols, your duties will include identifying coding problems and inconsistencies, developing program syntax to fix coding errors, and creating and editing data documentation materials in English language. This work involves a sound understanding of survey methods. Experience in handling survey data from electoral research and from comparative surveys is an advantage.

The main working language of the CSES project is English so strong proficiency is essential. Knowledge of German is an advantage. Successful applicants are expected to require proficiency in German during the position.
